Professor Jay Mulki

Jay Mulki is an Assistant Professor of Marketing at Northeastern University, where he teaches Introduction to Marketing, International Marketing and Services Marketing courses. Professor Mulki brings both academic research and business practice to his classroom. He has spent nearly 25 years in business, holding senior positions in Fortune 500 companies before leaving business to pursue his academic interest. His business career has been primarily in business-to-business selling in the energy sector in domestic and international markets.
Professor Mulki has received awards and recognition for both his teaching and research. In February 2008, Professor Mulki was honored with the Renfro Fellowship, an award given by the University to recognize consistent achievement in research and for "someone held in high regard for the quality of his/her teaching." He has also been recognized for his research and work in the development and implementation of service programs to increase customer satisfaction, promoting new electro technologies, and the implementation of one of the largest energy efficiency programs in the country.
Professor Mulki's primary research interests are in the areas of services marketing and personal selling and sales management. His research has been published in Journal of Business Research, Psychology & Marketing, Journal of Personal Selling and Sales Management, International Journal of Service Industry Management and Journal of Business Ethics. He also presented his research findings in the Association for Historical Research in Marketing, Southwest Academy of Management Conference, and the National Conference in Sales Management. He was a board member of Sales and Marketing Executives (SMEI) of Tampa Bay and Honolulu. He served on the Customer Service Council of EPRI (Palo Alto, CA) and was a member of Edison Electric Institute's (Washington DC) Residential and Light Commercial Planning Group.
Prof. Mulki received his undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Mysore (India), MBA from University of Hawaii at Manoa, and his PhD from the University of South Florida.
